OP MARATHON I pt.II - SATURDAY - 02 JUN - 1930UK

#1
TO: ALL STATIONS
FROM: HQ A Coy
SUBJECT: OP MARATHON I
PRIORITY: ROUTINE
DTG: 01JUN2018
CLASSIFICATION: NATO/OTAN SECRET

+++++++++++++BEGINS+++++++++++++

A military led coup, has left the armed forces of the former British colony of Altis in almost total control of the island. Much of the civilian population of the island was in support of the previous government, and have suffered under the brutal military dictatorship now in control. Multiple human rights violations have been reported by IDAP observers on the ground.

The peninsula forming the North East of the island has been chosen for the initial British landing. Key objectives include an airstip, a small town with a significant number of civilians still living there, and finally an Enemy encampment housing a Coy sized force just outside of the town.

Sit En

Coy sized element of the AAF, operating from a base slightly to the SW of MOLOS. They have barricaded MOLOS after our push on the Airfield. AAF toops are usually armed with Soviet era weaponry of a similar capability to our own. They are also using Soviet style AT and MANPAD launchers. Air defences consisting of both static and mobile guns are believed to be in the area. The troops in the area are motorised and make use of troop transport trucks. There will be little to no enemy air threat due to the air defence system of our carrier. Enemy morale is believed to be high despite our recent attack on the airfield. The intent of the enemy is to occupy the town of MOLOS, and to defend surrounding area against incursions.

Sit FF

2ups: DEFEAT the en in order to COMPEL them to give up control of the island.

1ups: To DESTROY the en on the peninsula in order to SECURE the peninsula up to phase line ALPHA.

The battlegroup is currently located on our carrier, around 5km offshore. FF also include a force of SBS aboard the submarine HMS Proteus, who will be conducting both offensive action and recce, in support of the 1ups intent.

ISTAR will be conducted by the carrier's air arm throughout the operation.

The air arm will also provide transport, CASEVAC, and CAS mission on request.

Civilian

NGO observers have previously been in this area, but there are not believed to be any there at this time.

There is believed to still be a significant civilian population within the town of MOLOS. They are likely to be friendly to our forces.
